Schneiders Salzburg
Schneiders was founded in Salzburg in 1946, turning waxed cloth from military surplus into weatherproof outerwear. Since then the brand has built its identity around quality materials, function and timeless elegance. Loden remains one of the most recognisable elements of Schneiders. This traditional fulled wool fabric is worked with hot water until its fibres compact, creating a dense cloth that resists wind and naturally protects against rain. Born in the Austrian mountains for long days outdoors, it keeps its structure and its character over time. Today Schneiders combines this Austrian heritage with a selection of Italian wools and yarns, producing coats and outerwear that are refined, functional and contemporary.

What to know about this collection
A fulled wool fabric: it is soaked, heated and beaten until it shrinks and the fibres interlock and close up. The result is a compact cloth that stops the wind and repels water thanks to its structure.
Loden handles rain and snow well thanks to its compact, naturally water-repellent structure, but it is not a technical waterproof fabric. It is made for everyday wear and moderate bad weather.
No. Schneiders loden coats are fully lined, so the fabric never sits directly against the skin and you don't get the typical scratchy wool feeling.
The vents under the arms and the side openings near the pockets are functional details taken from the traditional construction of loden coats. The first improve ventilation and freedom of movement, while the side openings let you reach the pockets of the jacket or trousers worn underneath.
Bella Long is built as a more classic, clean-lined double-breasted coat and does not have the functional openings found on Hubertus and Lena Long. Those two draw more directly on the loden coat tradition, with openings designed for ventilation, freedom of movement and access to the layers worn underneath.
