Baracuta
Baracuta was born in England and in 1937 created the G9, the jacket that decades later would become famous as the Harrington. With its short cut, two-button collar, ribbed trims and tartan lining, it became an icon of British style and one of the most imitated pieces of outerwear ever made. Almost ninety years on, the design has remained virtually unchanged. The selection available varies by model, colour and size. For availability, get in touch or come and see us in store in Biella.

What to know about this collection
The G9 is the original Baracuta Harrington: short, closer-fitting, with ribbed hem and cuffs. The G4 keeps many of the G9's elements but has a more relaxed fit, replacing the ribbing with button adjusters. The G10 is a longer, more structured piece, made for cold weather and to be worn over heavier layers.
From the character Rodney Harrington in the TV series Peyton Place, who wore it constantly in the 1960s. Baracuta had simply called it the G9, from 1937: the nickname came from the public and stuck.
No, it's the other way round: the Baracuta G9 is the original, and “harrington” has become the generic name for every jacket that imitates it.
The G9, G4 and G10 are designed to give good protection from wind and light rain, which makes them versatile for everyday wear and for mid-season. The Porton Wax, made from waxed cotton, offers greater protection from water; the treatment can be renewed over time to maintain its effectiveness and its original character.
Waxed cotton should not be machine washed or dry cleaned. To clean it, use a cloth or a soft sponge with cold water and avoid harsh detergents. Once it has dried naturally, the wax treatment can be renewed when needed, to maintain water protection and the original look of the fabric.
The G9 started life as a golf jacket: the “G” refers to golf, while the “9” refers to the nine holes of the traditional round.
It is the distinctive tartan lining associated with Baracuta jackets and one of the most recognisable features of the original G9.
